ACB Insurance - Data Governance Lead

Data Governance Lead is responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously enhancing Data Governance Framework to ensure data is managed as a strategic enterprise asset. The role oversees data governance policies, standards, data quality, metadata management, data ownership, and regulatory compliance while driving data accountability across business and technology functions.

The position partners with senior stakeholders across Business Units, Risk Management, Compliance, Technology, Information Security, and Operations to promote effective data governance practices, improve data quality, support regulatory requirements, and enable data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities

Data Governance Strategy & Framework

• Develop and executeData Governance Strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Establish and maintain an enterprise-wide Data Governance Framework, operating model, and governance structure.
• Define governance principles, policies, standards, procedures, and controls for data management.
• Lead the implementation of data governance best practices across the organization.
• Drive data ownership and accountability frameworks across all business domains.

Data Policy & Standards Management

• Oversee the development, approval, implementation, and review of data-related policies and standards.
• Ensure data governance documentation remains aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Define standards for:
• Data Quality Management
• Metadata Management
• Master Data Management (MDM)
• Reference Data Management

Data Quality Management

• Establish enterprise Data Quality Frameworks and controls.
• Define data quality dimensions, metrics, thresholds, and monitoring mechanisms.
• Lead initiatives to improve data accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and validity.
• Monitor and report on data quality performance across business units.
• Drive root-cause analysis and remediation of data quality issues.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with regulations, data protection laws, and internal risk requirements.
• Support regulatory reporting, audits, and inspections related to data governance.
• Partner with Compliance, Operational Risk, and Internal Audit to address governance-related findings.
• Assess data-related risks and recommend appropriate controls and mitigation plans.

Governance Reporting & Performance Management

• Develop governance maturity assessments and improvement roadmaps.
• Define KPIs, KRIs, and governance dashboards.
• Monitor compliance with governance policies and standards.
• Prepare executive reports and presentations for governance committees and senior management.
• Track governance initiatives and remediation action plans.

Stakeholder Management

• Engage senior business leaders to strengthen data governance adoption.
• Act as a trusted advisor on data governance matters.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration among Data Owners, Compliance, Risk Management, Technology, and Business Units.
• Build a data-driven culture throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor‘s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Administration, Finance, or related disciplines.
• Master‘s Degree is preferred.

Experience

At least 5 years of experience in:

• Data Governance
• Enterprise Data Management
• Banking Operations
• Risk Management
• Information Management
• Data Management Functions

Minimum 3 years of leadership or managerial experience.

Experience within insurance, banking, financial services, or highly regulated industries is preferred.

Proven track record in establishing and managing enterprise Data Governance programs.
