Human Resources - Human Resources leads the implementation of the Group’s people strategy in line with business objectives. It facilitates talent management, succession planning and employee mobility while defining and overseeing frameworks that support employee performance management, reward, learning and development, resourcing and engagement.

Impact on the Business / Function

  • Provide strategic HR advice to the top management team;
  • Lead a team of dedicated HR professionals to ensure line managers and the wider business are engaged on HR related matters and support the execution of the people agenda across the Vietnam business;
  • Build and deliver relevant HR strategies in line with the Global People agenda and respective business strategies while observing local legal and regulatory requirements;
  • Implement a consistent approach to organisational development and ensure businesses are resourced with the right talent pool at the right time and build a highly effective workforce;
  • Manage the financial budget for HR in Vietnam and ensure financial resources are deployed to deliver maximum efficiency to the business;
  • Proactively manage staff career development and identify leadership succession;
  • Understand the learning needs of the various businesses and determine appropriate Employee Development strategies;
  • Manage the implementation of the Bank's Performance and Reward strategy;
  • Support the implementation and execution of the Group strategy in implementing Global Standards, streamlining and growing revenue.

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Work with HR colleagues to develop and implement commercial solutions that integrate the local business needs and secure buy-in from all stakeholders as required;
  • Build strong relationships and adopt a ”joined up” approach to execute change at pace and with minimum conflict;
  • Analyse stakeholder goals and effectively manage their expectations, addressing any misalignment;
  • Work with project teams and stakeholders within the various HSBC Group entities to identify and communicate project status, progress, risks and issues;
  • Support the business in driving Employee Engagement by embedding the tools to support employee engagement and leadership and employee behavior.

Leadership and Team Work

  • Lead the Vietnam HR Team (both virtually and directly) by articulating a clear vision and providing developmental opportunities, coaching and feedback to upgrade the overall HR professional capabilities;
  • Proactively interact and collaborate with other HR (including HR in Asia Pacific) colleagues and teams to understand overarching HSBC and regional/local issues, to leverage ideas and ensure consistent products, services and processes.

Operational Effectiveness and Control

  • Ensure adequate operational control and risk management principles and strategies are in place;
  • Align to regional operational effectiveness and control requirements;
  • Work closely with HR Specialists and support functions to deliver HR transactions and services tailored to local business environment, utilize external best in class and benchmark standards;
  • Understand the consequences of legal, compliance and governance issues and their associated risks; ensuring they are effectively managed and reflected in HR practices, and oversee major disciplinary, grievance and industrial action as required.

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 10+ years HR experience and demonstrate HR management competencies gained through exposure & experience in large corporations preferably from Financial Services;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a matrix environment with conflicting demands;
  • Project management and/or change management capability;
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and understanding of the business;
  • Thorough knowledge of various regulatory constraints, local labour law and practice;
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, negotiation and communications skills to manage effective stakeholder relationships to senior management and board level;
  • Excellent People Management skills in leading the HR team in Vietnam of which there are 17 FTEs.
